Industry 4.0 – Lessons Learned from the Digital Supply Chain

Abstract

Digitalization is changing the world as we know it. Consumers benefit from new ways of shopping, more variety, easy comparison, fast delivery, and attractive pricing. To meet these requirements, manufacturing companies need to digitalize their entire value chain – including suppliers. However, it’s important to understand that and how digitalization leads to increasing vulnerability to cyber-attacks and an increased need for appropriate security measures. The presentation will discuss, based on lessons-learned from the Siemens Electronics Works Amberg (EWA), how we can cope with security challenges due to digitalization and the digital supply chain.
