Basic networking knowledge and interest in Industry 4.0 and Cyber Security

Speakers

Dr. Thorsten Henkel
Head of Secure Engineering, Industry 4.0 and the Security Test Lab
Fraunhofer-Institute for Secure Information Technology SIT

Dr. Thorsten Henkel | Cyber Security for Industry 4.0 | i40.hkpc.org

Dr. Thorsten Henkel, born in 1966, studied Architecture & Urban Planning after two years military service. In 1995 he achieved a diploma from the technical University of Dortmund and was promoted to a Diploma-Engineer.

After two years working as an Architect, he became an assistant of the chair of Computer Science and Civil Engineering at the TU-Dortmund. Afterwards he went to Dessau as the head of the CAAD Labor of the University of Applied Science Dessau. From 1999 to 2002 achieving a doctorates degree from Bauhaus-University Weimar in the field of Computer Science and Architecture. Since 2002 employee at Fraunhofer-Institute for Secure Information Technology SIT. In 2005 promoted to a Department Leader.

From 2001 until 2014 responsible for Secure Engineering and SIT-Test-Laboratory, since 2014 responsible for Industrial Security Test Laboratory. Today Division Director Industrial Security Solution, Director Industrial Test-Laboratory, Business Area Responsibility for Industrie 4.0.

Mr. Pedro Larbig

Fraunhofer-Institute for Secure Information Technology SIT

Pedro Larbig studied Computer Science at the Technical University of Darmstadt and was hired as a research assistance by the Center for Advanced Security Research (CASED) where he developed tools for testing security properties of wireless routing protocols. As a long-term developer of software in C for network encryption and authentication protocols he gained a deep practical understanding of these mechanisms. Joining Fraunhofer SIT in 2011 he now works on designing and implementing new cryptographic systems and analysing the flaws of existing ones. While he implements cryptographic authentication algorithms, a strong focus is put on managing the required secrets. He gained intensive knowledge about how attackers can use or abuse protocols to leak information or how they gain control over remote systems or networks, broadening the spectrum to an adversary’s perspective.

Mr. Sinisa Dukanovic
Deputy Head of Industrial Security Solutions
Fraunhofer-Institute for Secure Information Technology SIT

Mr. Sinisa Dukanovic | Cyber Security for Industry 4.0 | i40.hkpc.org

Sinisa Dukanovic studied computer science at the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany. After graduating he joined Fraunhofer SIT as IT security researcher. At first he joined the Secure Software Development Department and the IT security Test Laboratory, where he participated in numerous security analysis of various hardware and software. His research focused on technologies and processes to enable developers to adhere to the "Security by Design"-principle. The past three years he focused his research on security technologies for industrial systems, joining the "Industrial Security Solutions" department and eventually becoming deputy head of department. His work is focused on security technologies in the area of IoT, Industrie4.0 and Industrial Ethernet.
